They differ in that Linux Mint 18.2 has newer versions of Cinnamon, MATE, Xfce, KDE, the Mint tools (like software manager and update manager) and other things developed or added by Linux Mint on top of Ubuntu. Personally, I would go with 18.2. But any choice is fine. Documentation
