The reason is RHEL 6 by default is installed with 64 bit libraries only. Moreover, we didn't find a way to choose installation of 32bit runtime environment during or after system installation. Of course, we did find a way to install three rpm packages with 32 bit libraries required for our application to work.

CentOS 7 (64-bit) After the deployment of the ova, the ESXi client detects the Guest OS to be Other Linux (64-bit). I expect it to show CentOS 7 (64-bit). Tried changing the ova file by adding ovf:osType="centos7_64Guest" , it didn't help. As mentioned above I highly recommend the minimal CentOS 6 download, after / during install you can install up to date packages directly from the mirror via YUM.
